45.000 objects

The Fries Verzetsmuseum (Frisian Resistance Museum) has a collection of approximately 45,000 objects, documents, books, magazines, photographs, and films. They present an impressive picture of World War II in Friesland. The collection is about everyday life during the occupation – collaboration, resistance, persecution – and liberation.

We always seek out the stories behind the objects – this is what makes our collection special. Army boots, pistols, a piece of soap, a bar of chocolate, documents, photos and clips. Along with many other objects, they form the basis for various presentations that tell the stories from and about the war in Friesland. Take a virtual look at the collection on our collection website.
